Save a still image from a video

Pick a moment and export a real PNG image at the source resolution.

Find the moment

Open Extract a video frame, choose a source and watch its preview. Enter the frame time in seconds. For example, enter 3.25 for a moment just after three seconds. Changing the time updates the source preview when the browser can seek there. Choose a value before the final duration, not the exact end of the file.

A timestamp selects a nearby frame

Video consists of discrete frames. At 30 frames per second, frames are roughly 0.033 seconds apart. A requested decimal timestamp can therefore resolve to a nearby decoded frame rather than an infinitely precise instant. Inspect the exported image and adjust the time slightly if the expression or movement is not the one you wanted.

Resolution and sharpness

The PNG uses the decoded video dimensions. It cannot add detail that was absent in the video. Motion blur, compression blocks and poor lighting can appear in a still even when playback looked smooth. Choose a calmer moment for a sharper picture. PNG avoids another lossy image encoding, but does not repair compression already present in the source.

Download before the result expires

The result page displays the actual PNG, its dimensions and file size. Download it before the one-hour local expiry. For another still, return to the tool and choose another time. The source stays on your device and remains unchanged. Use frames only where you have the necessary rights or permission.
